1/25/2024 0 Comments Sbs52 cambridge soundworksMy 2.1 system is running Maggie's mg-1s with an M&K mx-70b. Although my 2.0 stereo utilities Speakerlab 4's (and they sound really good). I have been buying and collecting ADS speakers since 1977, and iam a fan of their sound. I just wanted and needed some input on these, and lucky for me an individual that has experience answered my query, thanks again. I thank you for your response greatly! If the seller doesn't flake out on me, i'll get them tomorrow. If the Mains & Center are matched and the price is right, I would give them a shot! Overall, Cambridge Soundworks make very good speakers that are usually underrated (and priced accordingly). I never had a chance to listen to any of the Newton towers to know how they would do for stereo. A good home theater system but no the best at 2-channel (the Soundworks "mains" are sitting on top of some ADS L1530's that fill that need). The mad cave has Cambridge Soundworks Newton MC300 for the fronts & mains, S300 rears with a Polk PSW505 sub. The mains are a great all around speaker, work great for home theater and do a good job for stereo but would not be my first choice if 2-channel was my main priority. I couple of years ago, I found this review for a similar system. I pieced this system together years ago from the Cambridge Soundworks "seconds" store and haven't found anything that could replace it within my budget. The family room consists of Tower II's, a Centerstage, The Surround rears, and a BassCube 12. I run two different Cambridge Soundworks 5.1 systems in my house. The center sounds like a Center Channel Plus (meh!, would only use with the Ensemble line), Centerstage (excellent match for the Tower I or II), or perhaps a Newton S500. The mains could be The Tower I, Tower II, Tower III or one of the Newton Towers. It sounds like the rears are a Newton series version, either S200 or S300. Tough to give a concise opinion since it could be one of several different setups. A lot would depend if home theater or 2 channel was your priority.
